Terms of Service
Last updated: September 20, 2026. Please read these terms and AI transcription disclaimers carefully before using Verbtm.
Important: No Guarantee of Transcription Accuracy
Verbtm uses artificial intelligence to transcribe spoken words and injects the resulting text directly into your active foreground window. AI speech recognition is probabilistic and not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or error-free. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all transcribed text before sending, submitting, executing, or saving it.
1. Proprietary Software License & Scope of Use
Verbtm is a proprietary, closed-source desktop application. All rights, title, and interest in and to the application binaries, user interface, brand assets, and application software are owned exclusively by Verbtm.
By downloading, installing, running, or accessing Verbtm ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not install or use the Software.
Subject to your compliance with these terms, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Verbtm on compatible Windows and macOS devices for personal or commercial productivity. You may not decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, modify, redistribute, or resell the Software without express written consent.
2. AI Transcription Disclaimers & Hallucinations
Verbtm utilizes local, open-weights artificial intelligence models (such as OpenAI Whisper via faster-whisper and CTranslate2). You explicitly acknowledge and agree that:
- Probabilistic Recognition: Automated speech recognition (ASR) does not produce deterministic or certified output. Accuracy varies depending on microphone quality, background noise, accents, speaking rate, pronunciation, and technical jargon.
- AI Hallucinations & Misinterpretations: Neural language models can occasionally mishear words, omit syllables, introduce unintended punctuation, repeat phrases, or generate fabricated text ("hallucinations"), particularly during pauses, whispered audio, or background speech.
- No Verification by Verbtm: Because Verbtm runs 100% locally and offline without external oversight or human review, the Software cannot check the factual correctness, appropriateness, or spelling of generated text.
3. Direct Cursor Keystroke Injection & User Responsibility
Verbtm is designed to inject recognized speech directly into the operating system's focused foreground window by simulating native keyboard events.
You bear sole responsibility for:
- Ensuring that the desired target window and input field currently have keyboard focus prior to dictation.
- Reviewing, proofreading, and verifying all injected text before executing commands, sending communications, or submitting forms.
- Any destructive actions resulting from dictation injected into shells, command prompts, database consoles, coding environments, or email clients.
4. Prohibition for High-Risk & Safety-Critical Environments
The Software is NOT fault-tolerant and is not designed, certified, or intended for use in hazardous, safety-critical, or regulated high-risk environments requiring fail-safe performance, including but not limited to:
- Medical diagnostics or clinical care
- Emergency dispatch or 911/111 calls
- Legal depositions, court records, or testimony
- High-value financial orders or contracts
Any use in these domains without human verification is strictly at your own risk.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties ("As Is")
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
VERBTM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THE DEVELOPERS AND CONTRIBUTORS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE OPERATION OF THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, BUG-FREE, OR COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY SYSTEM CONFIGURATION OR THIRD-PARTY APPLICATION.
6. Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPERS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATES OF VERBTM BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES; LOSS OF USE, DATA, REPUTATION, OR PROFITS; BUSINESS INTERRUPTION; OR ERRORS IN TRANSCRIBED CONTENT) HOWEVER CAUSED AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE OR OTHERWISE) ARISING IN ANY WAY OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THIS SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.
7. Third-Party Libraries & AI Models
Verbtm integrates certain third-party libraries and model architectures, including OpenAI Whisper model weights, faster-whisper, CTranslate2, PortAudio, and PyQt6. These components remain subject to their respective independent licenses (such as MIT, Apache 2.0, and LGPL). Use of these third-party components does not grant rights to, or open-source, the proprietary Verbtm application or its source code.
8. Modifications & Questions
We may update these terms periodically to reflect new software capabilities or legal requirements. Continued use of Verbtm following published updates constitutes your agreement to the revised terms.
